On the weekend I made some shorts for Hamish from the Make it Perfect Little Explorer pattern. I was inspired after seeing Samantha’s efforts, and it was particularly opportune as I was able to borrowed the pattern from a friend. Overall a great pattern for a beginner. I’m going to make some for Cadel too but I think I might make a few changes, also Dan is insistent that the boys don’t wear identical clothes, which is such a shame as I love the Traffic Jam trim and have a fair bit of it left.

Hey there, today was a massive day of sewing. Dan had a day off today so he looked after Hamish while I sewed.. and sewed.. and sewed. I hope to post some pictures tomorrow afternoon.
The kite pic is in honour of the Kite Festival that we went to at Wanda beach yesterday. It was a stunning day, and Cadel and Hamish were in awe of the kites.

Well hi there, sorry for the blog hiatus. I’ve been struggling a bit with our sickly kids, a little family drama, and everyday life. Roll on summer I say! Other than that I’ve been really busy with sewing, replenishing my stock after some recent sales. Hopefully I’ll have some pictures to show over the next few days. I also have some new fabric coming this week, which is terribly exciting, and I have already started stalking the postie.

On Sunday I visited Eveleigh Artisans Market which was lovely. I showed great restraint and only bought a couple of these fantastic bags from Jess. Though I bought them to save my handbag from the numerous amounts of sultanas that seem to pool in the bottom, Cadel has already adopted one as his own and filled it with Thomas engines.

Hi there, it feels like its been forever.
The begininng of this week has been tough on my little family. Hamish has had an ear infection for the last two weeks, and on Monday night Cadel woke wheezing with croup, which was very frightening.
Anyhow by the time of our third trip to the Gp in the last week, and our fifth trip to the pharmacy, I felt like breaking into this song.
Perhaps it’s just because I’m tired though.

ps. hoping to have something crafty to show you soon
pps. Katy recieved my swap item for the Polka Dot Swap, you can read all about it here
I am thrilled that my last toy society drop was found. While its so nice to receive word that your toys has been found and will be cherished, its important to do things without expecting a thankyou.
As my boys grow older and are able to be more involved I hope I am able to impart on them the importance of random acts of kindness and generosity for strangers (and those close to them). I really recommend all crafters to get involved in the Toy Society

This weekend was massive! We had a small party for Hamish’s birthday, and though only family was coming I still managed to get myself completely stressed with the preparations.

Despite all my stressing it was a lovely party, the food was great, and I think the cake looked very pretty. I also made the bunting (in the background) for the party and I am thrilled with how it turned out.
We also had houseguests (Daniel’s parents), and to top it all off Hamish wasn’t himself (I found out on Monday that he has an ear infection, which explains his poor sleep of late). Cadel really enjoyed having his grandparents stay which was lovely because unfortunately they live so far away we don’t really see them all that much. The boys posed together for this shot

Dan and I also got to go to our favourite cafe for a rare childfree brekky, while the kids stayed with their grandparents. I must say, it was lovely to only have to feed myself for a change! How was your weekend?

I can’t believe it, my littlest baby is 1! The last year has flown by (at times very roughly), mind you it seems to be settling down now.

Hamish has completed our little family, and seeing him and Cadel play together always my brightens my day. Hamish is such a funny little boy, determined, naughty, boisterous, and oh so cuddly. He has shining blue eyes and an amazing ability to laugh, talk, and cry without his dummy ever leaving his mouth.

I have to tell him four times to put his shoes away, but he can hear the faintest rustle of the biscuit packet from another room. He runs everywhere his blond hair bobbing and giggles frequently.
He sticks his tongue out when he’s concentrating (which my grandmother used to do), and scrunches his face up when I wipe it.
He loves books, and often exclaims proudly that he has “twenty Thomas books”. Whenever a plane flies overhead, he comments “bye bye plane”, and this is often because we live near the airport.
He always gives Hamish his dummy, even if Hamish doesn’t want it, and sometimes holds his brother’s hand in the car.
I know these characteristics describe many two year olds, but they are also what makes him unique to me. Cadel is such a funny boy, its hard to describe how much I love him.

Thankyou all so much for the lovely birthday wishes, it really made my day.
I was a fairly quiet day yesterday visiting family and hanging out with my boys, and Dan made me poached eggs with smoked salmon and hollandaise sauce for breakfast (yum).

I just took this picture of Cadel which I had to share. He was so insistent at nap time that he didn’t want a sleep. However an hour later he asks for “cowie, blankie and special cushion” which he always sleeps with, next thing I know he is asleep on the couch.
Anyhow I’ll pop in later to do My Creative Space.

Despite having two sick boys, yesterday afternoon was very fruitful as they both slept for a solid three and half hours! This was especially good as Cadel has recently been dropping his afternoon nap.
I got heaps of stuff done…
laundry, washing up
And now for the fun stuff.
I finished this little guy, who once stuffed will be heading off to someone special.

I still haven’t decided what they should be called. Thanks for all your suggestions.
I finished the pink hippo.
And then thought I’d try a selvege pincushion which I finished last night.

I am truly in love with it, though don’t look too closely as its not perfect. I see more of these being made…
I have a massive weekend planned sewing and stuffing, and opening a made it shop. Hope all of you have a great weekend too.
Rachel
Ps. Thanks for all your well wishes for the boys. Cadel seems alot better today, but Hamish is sicker, hopefully he’ll be better soon.
