Well look what arrived in the post for me yesterday….

My swap from the super talented Katy from What Katy Did.  I would have taken a picture but I was too excited to wait and get the camera.

Katy sent this lovely bag..

And she used her new Yudo on the back

Inside the bag were these

Another lovely little bag in a pretty Heather Ross print with matching polka dot lining swoon…   It has already become the travelling home for my pincushions and threads for my hand sewing.

Some self-cover buttons.  I have never used these and the mind boggles about the possibilities! I’m thinking of making some hair-ties for a friends daughter.

And a really pretty piece of Asian fabric featuring Storks and Sakura (my favourites).

This was my first swap and it was a great experience.  It was fun working on a gift for someone whom you haven’t met, and great to receive a surprise in the post.  Thanks so much Katy I love it all.  Thanks also to Stacey for organising the swap.

Hurray Words and Pictures is back! I love trying to imagine a somewhat left of centre interpretation of Pip’s themes.

This week its given me an opportunity to post another of my loves, which is vintage photo’s.

I love this picture.  The children look so happy.  In the background there is a water tank and farm house.  One thing I love about vintage photos taken in the country is the contrast between the untidiness of the Australian countryside  and the way the subjects are dressed, usually in Sunday best.  The picture features my mother in law Jan (on the right) with her sisters, one of whom is named Joy.

This week in the snippets of spare time I’ve had, I have been trying to tidy and reorganise my sewing area.

We live in a place with two bedrooms only, and as such most of my sewing stuff lives in the corner of the bedroom in this chest of drawers.  The chest of drawers is covered in a hexagon quilt which I began in 2000  to cover a king size bed.  As you can see I settled for cot size in the end as I moved on to other crafting projects.

The reorganisation is a bit of a work in progress so hopefully I’ll have more pictures to post later on.

Also in my now very tidy creative space is a piece of angora/ acrylic blend fabric I bought for two dollars at my local op shop, it is the most gorgeous shade of rhubarb pink.  It might end up as softies, which will be a new adventure as I’ve never sewed with a knit fabric before.   And to top it all off my new Moo cards, featuring the banner that Kellie made for me a few weeks ago.

In my creative space today (actually on Thursday):

- Cowies requiring stuffing in the box along with a prototype for a new design.

- Frida the hippo who shortly after the photo was taken became this

She’s not in the shop yet, as I need to take some better photos (which in this weather could be days away) but do let me know if your interested, I think she looks awesome.

In my creative space today…

Sickly children watching the wiggles

A surprise! Can you guess it?

A half sewn hippo (the pink fabric) alongside a vintage pattern given to me by a thoughtful friend.

Today I am working on a new product.

I have a few in various states of completion

I think they look vaguely mousy, but Cadel is insistent it’s a monkey, and so I am trying to think of a name that highlights their ambiguity.  Any ideas?

Hopefully when the weather is better I’ll be able to get some better photos. This rain is driving me mad.  It makes it so hard for me to keep my boys occupied.

P.S Check back later today for the launch of my giveaway!

Original Photo taken by Balakov based on a photograph of John Lennon and Yoko Ono 1969 ‘bed-in” in Amsterdam.  Check out Balakov’s other work, he does lots of funny things with Lego.

Thanks again to Pip and everyone else playing along.
