This weekend was massive! We had a small party for Hamish’s birthday, and though only family was coming I still managed to get myself completely stressed with the preparations.

Despite all my stressing it was a lovely party, the food was great, and I think the cake looked very pretty. I also made the bunting (in the background) for the party and I am thrilled with how it turned out.
We also had houseguests (Daniel’s parents), and to top it all off Hamish wasn’t himself (I found out on Monday that he has an ear infection, which explains his poor sleep of late). Cadel really enjoyed having his grandparents stay which was lovely because unfortunately they live so far away we don’t really see them all that much. The boys posed together for this shot

Dan and I also got to go to our favourite cafe for a rare childfree brekky, while the kids stayed with their grandparents. I must say, it was lovely to only have to feed myself for a change! How was your weekend?

What did you do this weekend?
For the first time in what feels like forever we went out for breakfast. Pre kids we went out every weekend for brekky, but this slowed down after we had Cadel and halted once we had Hamish. The thought of trying to keep the boys happy in a busy cafe while having an enjoyable breakfast just seemed unfathomable.
Anyhoo our local cafe Big Brekky recently changed hands. The food has always been brilliant but frankly the service ranged between slow and just plain rude. We tolerated it pre kids and often joked about it, but since having kids a 3 hour breakfast ordeal is no longer funny.
The new owners now have a 7am opening time on Saturdays which suits us because we usually wake at 6 anyway. The food was as brilliant as always, the coffee was prompt, and they had a very large selection of toys. Cadel was in seventh heaven with such a large collection of Thomas trains to play with. It was such a great experience, that I can’t wait to go again.

We also observed Earth Hour, and hung out with my sister this afternoon while Dan and her boyfriend went to the pub to watch the Formula One.
