Rock!
While we were away the one thing I insisted we do was visit the local op shops. I tend to find they have a different range of vintage linen than those close to me. I was not disappointed….

Cotton fabric- destined to become a skirt and some softies
I also got a load of funky tablecloths, and some more sheets which you can view on my photostream.
We had a lovely weekend though it was insanely hot at 42 degress celsius (107 fahrenheit). I probably haven’t mentioned before but I hate the heat I don’t know how I am going to survive summer if spring brings such hot days.

Hey there, today was a massive day of sewing. Dan had a day off today so he looked after Hamish while I sewed.. and sewed.. and sewed. I hope to post some pictures tomorrow afternoon.
The kite pic is in honour of the Kite Festival that we went to at Wanda beach yesterday. It was a stunning day, and Cadel and Hamish were in awe of the kites.

This weekend was massive! We had a small party for Hamish’s birthday, and though only family was coming I still managed to get myself completely stressed with the preparations.

Despite all my stressing it was a lovely party, the food was great, and I think the cake looked very pretty. I also made the bunting (in the background) for the party and I am thrilled with how it turned out.
We also had houseguests (Daniel’s parents), and to top it all off Hamish wasn’t himself (I found out on Monday that he has an ear infection, which explains his poor sleep of late). Cadel really enjoyed having his grandparents stay which was lovely because unfortunately they live so far away we don’t really see them all that much. The boys posed together for this shot

Dan and I also got to go to our favourite cafe for a rare childfree brekky, while the kids stayed with their grandparents. I must say, it was lovely to only have to feed myself for a change! How was your weekend?

On Friday night Dan went on a photo walk through the Smart Light Sydney Light Walk (that was on as part of the Vivid Sydney Festival).
He took quite a few photos

And we were thrilled to find that one of them has been bought to be used later as promotional material. Congratulations honey, I am so proud of you.
You can see more of his photos here and read his blog here.

With a slightly sick child in tow I headed over to Remnant Warehouse for their 25% of sale this morning. I ran into Belinda and Cass, and bought some lovely new fabric.
I primarily went to buy spots as they are great for softies, and got these (American Jane and Michael Miller spots)

Now for the impulse purchases
and some Moda Wonderland by Momo which I didn’t get around to photographing.
I forgot to show my last weeks purchases so here they are as well

Now all I need is to get the kiddletts better so I can get back into some sewing. Rachel
Today we went for a very nice picnic at Federal Park on the water at Annandale. The boys had a lovely time and we dropped Annie off at the Playground there for The Toy Society. Hopefully she will find a nice home.
She is from the Black Apple Pattern.

This week has been incredibly busy…
I just resigned from my job after being on maternity leave for 11 months
I visited this lovely store. They will be selling a couple of my softies, a brown owl (not the crafty kind though), and my robot.
I opened my etsy store.
And we did a photoshoot of my softies in the front yard (getting some strange looks from the neighbours)

All good things really
and to top it all off I have just found out that I will be able to go to Finders Keepers tomorrow evening while Dan looks after the boys. yay

Last night was the first meeting of the craft room. Thanks so much Corrie for organising it. It was lovely to meet Kelly, Belinda, Cass, Sophie, Fiona, Amelia, and Fran, and it will be great to meet Bianca and Ingrid next time.
I worked on my hippo and Owl. The hippos are stuffed and awaiting eyes and nostrils and I am still not sure what style to use. The owls are looking great, I have two colourways so far: chocolate with Moda Wonderland Pink floral accent, and turquoise with Amy Butler Cherry honeycomb dots, and I have some lovely orange corduroy that I am looking to match with some sort of unisex geometric print. What do you think of this combo?

I have hit my Flickr limit so stay tuned for owl pics tomorrow….

The weather was so gorgeous today we decided to head over to Petersham Park for a picnic with Daniel’s parents. Cadel and Hamish had a great time playing and eating grass (respectively).
We dined on this…

Smoked Salmon Quiche with salad, and ….
Gramma pie with cream… yum.
Then we left the kids with their grandparents and headed over to Newtown for a glass of wine at the Bank hotel and a browse in the shops. Lovely…
Happy Easter
Rachel
